The Blooker Prize takes its name from the word "blook", meaning a book based on a blog or website. (See the Chambers English Dictionary). It also pays an affectionate nod to the name of another important literary prize (the Man Booker Prize), to which it is otherwise unrelated.

The Blooker Prize For Blooks
The Blooker Prize (formerly the Lulu Blooker Prize) is the world’s first literary prize for “blooks” – or books based on blogs, websites or other online content.
The first Blooker Prize was awarded in 2006, when it won global media attention on a scale that, well, staggered all involved. The 2007 Blooker then won even more.
In less than two years, the Blooker has made a global name.
